Nail Art

Nail art is what can be added to your basic gel or standard polish colour, or gel and acrylic extensions.
I can offer a wide variety of different nail art styles and techniques, the only limit to what can be achieved is your imagination. You may find inspiration for your nail art from anywhere, in the past I have done nail art designs to match both outfits and shoes for special occasions, holiday themed nails, bridal designs, floral designs etc. All clients are welcome to bring images which may have patterns or colour effects that they would like to be replicated.

As well as my large collection of special effects nail polishes, I also have a very large collection of additional nail art decorations, such as high shine metallic and holographic nail foils, irridescent mylar flakes which can be combined with gel for a delicate multicoloured 3d effect similar to opal, a nail stamping kit with a selection of intricate and detailed images that can be transfered onto the nail, and a varied selection of rhinestones, crystals, pearls, metalic studs, crushed shell pieces, tiny coloured beads, delicate gold and silver leafing and much more besides, this is an ever growing collection that is continually added to. I also have a special transfer paper on which I can print any deisgn, image or even a photograph of your choosing, which I can then transfer to your nail, and a special solution which I can add to any polish to give it a special holographic effect.

If you are not having nail art as part of a polish or gel polish manicure***, the prices for nail art can vary depending on the amount of time required to achieve the design, the work involved and the materials used, some designs may require that I prepare hand made decorations in advance of your appointment (such as the printed transfer paper with an image of your choice), so in all cases, if you are interested in nail art it is recommended that you view my nail art galleries to find your prefered techniques and effects, and to gain some idea of what kind of design you may be interested in. That way I may give you the best price for your requirements and be fully prepared for our appointment with everything that will be required to achieve your perfect nail art design, without taking anymore of your personal time to prep during the appointment.
 
If you have no particular inspiration and would just like to be surprised, I ask that you choose a colour, a style (elegant, sparkly, pop, cartoon etc) and set yourself a nail art budget, and I will endeavour to provide the best possible nail art within the set budget.

*** Please note that some nail art techniques or materials may incur a small additional surcharge to the set price for a full gel/polish manicure with nail art, such as techniques like the nail stamping decal which must be hand painted in advance, and materials such as the specially printed transfer paper, or say a full nail cover of quality crystals


Below are some examples of popular nail art techniques, application times and costs. Many of these techniques can be used together on the same nail, or you can use different techniques on different nails for a varied mix and match design with accents. Click on the images to enlarge them.

Nail Foils: Metal foil applied with a special glue, with high metallic shine and holographic effect, can be applied as a full nail cover, in a specific pattern on top of your standard or gel polish colour, or in random patches for an abstract design. I have many colours and designs to choose from. Application time approx 30 minutes for a full set, 50 pence per nail.
 

Nail Art Stamping: A specially designed metal plate that is etched with intricate and detailed designs, the etchings are covered with a secially formulated high pigment nail polish and the excess is scraped away leaving only the design, which is then transfered to the nail with a special rubber stamping tool. Application time approx 20 minutes for a full set, 50 pence per nail.

Stamping Decals: Stamping images as above, but that are then hand painted with various colours and made into a special applique before being transfered to the nail. These decals must be prepared in advance of the appointment as depending on the complexity of the design they may require a couple of hours to prepare for a full set, and then they require a couple of hours to dry thouroughly before they can be applied to the nail. Once dried a full set can be applied easily within 20 minutes, 75 pence per nail.
   
Printed nail transfers with an image of your choice: Your image must be sent to me, along with the size of your nails, before the appointment so I may print it onto the special nail transfer paper in time for your appointment. The images are then soaked in water to remove the protective plastic backing, and then easily fix to the nail. Application time for a full set approx 20 minutes, £1 per nail.
 

 Liquid Gem Stones: The use of glitter and sequins encapsulated in a 3D gel ball to create a gemstone, surrounded by foil guilding for a jewellry effect. Application time depends on the complexity of the stone design, approx 10 minutes per nail,  £1 per nail.
 


Colour Gradients: Using 2 or 3 different color polishes, the colours are blended into one another to give a multicolour gradient effect. Application time approx 30 minutes for a full set, £1 per nail.
If you would like a full of set of 10 gradient nails, I will add extra designs to 2 accent nails on each hand with a decoration of your choice (such as a stamping pattern, glitter, studs or rhinestones etc) choice for free!
 

Hand Painted Scenes: I have a great technique for hand painting images and can replicate different kinds of scenes and brush strokes as demonstrated in the images in the second photogallery below.
Application time approx 30 minutes to an hour depending on the complexity of the design. £1 per nail.
